I applied for adjustment of status on May 15, 2016. After the interview on Feb 2, 2017 my status became pending. Today after two years and seven months I received a RFE requesting for new medical examination. I hope and pray that all is well after along period of waiting.

Once you submit it, I would enlist the help of your Senator. Have them inquire on your behalf. Your case took so long. It will help if USCIS knows a US Senator's eyes are watching.

On the upside, you are going for the 10-year green card! YAY!

I did use my Congressman and they responded that I am in the background check.

Perfect! And you know, there is really no way to expedite background checks. It is what it is. However, once it is finished, USCIS will prioritize your case thanks to your Congressperson's intervention. Kuddos to you for being proactive.
