  • change address!!!!!!! help me!!!

hi I wanted to ask a question, I have an application for I-485, we are changing house and the new address is part of another USCIS office, I saw that the processing time of the new office is almost the date of my application, what happens? and if in the period of change of address the processing time goes beyond? I beg you, I have an immense fear
    thanksssssssssss!!!!!!!

    Rosario,

From your previous posts, I see that your current Field Office is Miami, FL. The current inquiry date for Miami, FL is July 28, 2016

Which one is your future field office? Did you double check with your zipcode? Find your field office here. https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-.../field-offices

These are all the field offices in Florida.

    Case Inquiry date
07-28-16 - Miami, FL ***Your Current field office.
    07-28-16 - Kendall, FL
    07-28-16 - Fort Myers, FL
    11-17-16 - Oakland Park, FL
    03-10-17 - Orlando, FL
    05-12-17 - Hialeah, FL
    07-26-17 - Tampa, FL
08-03-17 - West Palm Beach, FL
    09-11-17 - Jacksonville, FL

You need to take a deep breath. Say for example that your Priority Date is 08-01-17. If you move to West Palm Beach, and the case inquiry date there is 08-03-17. So that means that your priority date of 08-01-17, would be "outside normal processing times". You would, therefore, be able to submit a SR (Service Request) for a case outside processing times.

In addition, you would have more grounds to go to an Infopass appointment, and ask the Immigration Services Officers to please request your file from the NBC for interview, because your case is outside processing times.

You would also immediately be able to reach out to your US Senator(s) and ask them to communicare with USCIS on your behalf. They would tell USCIS that your case is outside normal processing times, and to please schedule your interview. For this route to be effective, you MUST tell your US Senator to please reach out to the Field Office and ask them to request your file for interview".

    All the best,

    USCFFS

first of all thank you very much for answering me, you understood perfectly my doubt, in February ends the lease for the house and we would like to return to Miramar (uscis hialeah), as you well know it is in May 2017, my case was filled August 15, 2017, I'm afraid that when I arrive in February and more time approving the change of direction, the date of proccessing time exceeds my date, and I do not know if I have also been able to solicit an interview because having done a change of direction

        Good! Glad that helped!

The first step in changing the address is actually, is changing your address with USPS. Remember that it will take at least two weeks for mail to be forwarded.
You have to do the change of address with USPS first. USCIS uses the USPS system to verify that you are registered to receive mail at that address. Once you have the address where you will live, you may start the process with USPS.( If you won’t have access to that mailbox before you move, you can just ask the post office to hold all your mail. You can just go pick it up at the post office until the day you move to the new address.)
Once USPS confirms your change of address, you may change the address with USCIS. You can do that online with with Form AR-11.
You actually submit a change of address for the I-485 + I-765 + I-131. And then you also submit one for the I-130 separately. It’s very easy.
Your sponsor for the I-864 also has to submit a change of address for the I-864. Double check on it.

It’s best to start the process before you move, OK? Let me know if I succeeded communicating that in a clear way that makes sense to you.

But YAY! You’re moving to a faster jurisdiction! A friend of mine used to always say “Tu sabes que en Hialeah todo es más rápido!” Haha

You have nothing to fear. You just have to be proactive and follow all the steps.

Once USCIS updates your jurisdiction, your case should techbically drop into the scheduling queue BUT sometimes it just needs a little push. That’s why it’s a good idea to make an infopass appointment and ask an officer at the field office to please request your file for interview.

Thought I would chime in and ask a question regarding the change of address process.

I just moved down to Texas from Colorado, we had to move down here because my wifes fathers parkinsons disease has got to the point where he cant do his usual day to day activities so we moved in with him.
I originally filed end of October, moved to Texas on the 10th of December and have just received two letters in the mail from USCIS at my new address confirming the move. One is addressed to myself for form I485, the other to my wife for form I130. I did file change of address for the other forms I submitted when applying for AoS - I131, I765 (will I receive separate change of address notices for these?) and will send in change of address for I864 but have 30 days to file that one.
In the meantime, are there any other procedures I have to undertake?

I already went in for biometrics end of November whilst living in Colorado. Was also wondering if I could expedite my work authorization as I would like to be the primary income so my wife can stay at home and look after her father.

          Thanks for your advice

Further to my questions below this post I am also wondering if I need to file change of address not only by AR-11 filed online but do I also need to send in a paper version?

The letter I received after filing AR-11from the National Benefits Center in MO stated " We have updated your address in our systems and on your application or petition. Thank you for notifying us of your change of address"
Next paragraph down says "please remember: By law", blah blah, "over the age of 14 must submit Form AR-11 AND notify this office of their change of address."

Does this mean I should also call the NBC in MO too?

You do not need to call the NBC. Filing it online is enough. You got the confirmation - so you are done.

That said, USCIS is notorious for continuing to mail items to previous addresses. I would make sure you are signed up for informed delivery. Make sure that USPS is forwarding your mail and check in with USCIS from time to time for any status updates or SOFT UPDATES - those are updates that only agents can see on the USCIS side.

I have received some mail at my new address with the yellow forwarded sticker on them from the previous address, I am also signed up with Informed delivery but it only shows mail to the new address.
When you say checking in with USCIS is that more than checking the myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov website I registered with?

                    Thanks again!

Your field office is Denver, CO. Current processing time is 12 months to 25.5 months for family based AOS. I would just sign up for an account here https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do and continue to check the dhs.gov account, as well.

I just signed up for my case status via the egov.uscis.gov website. My I-765, I-485, I-130 and I-131 forms are now being set to receive updates. I see that I-485 and I-130 are showing the case has been sent to an officer for response and subsequently shows completed. Forms I-765 and I-131 do not show this update. Is that normal?

Great question! We had issues with our change of address. For some odd reason, according to the level 2 officer that we talked to, the COA for the I-765 and I-131 did not take. So he actually entered the change of address for those two forms, and gave us a referral number. To be clear, on the egov.uscis account, we could see (and still do) a change of address for each one of the forms, and the one for the I-485 is different from the ones for the I-765/I-131.

So in this case, I would call to make sure that your EAD/AP have the correct address.
