I would also like him to be able travel to his country without fear of being punished for being married to a man. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/03/w...n-shariah.html If something were to happen, and all he has to show for is the AP, the US Embassy would shrug their shoulders.

Given that they cancelled the interview once, I figured it makes sense to assertively ask them to schedule it again. So we shall see. I would prefer to not have to go through removal of conditions, but I will gladly go through the process if that is what needs to be.
It is definitely safer for him not returning until having a GC in hand. I had dated someone from Malaysia before and heard crazy stories. It will be good if he can get his parents GCs, so at least they have opitions.

This Monday, USCIS just published a interview waiver guidance for I-751. It sound to me that they are reducing interview needs for remove of condition process, so long as you submit good evidence and are interviewed after Dec 10, 2018. No sign of fraud, etc. If you guys will go through remove condition process (I think I will have too), it should be easier than what you are going through now.

Yes, homosexuality is punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison OR caning - the act of hitting someone with a cane until you believe they have learned their lesson.

Yes and no. The interview waiver criteria is basically the same. The only slight difference is that it reassures you that if they have interviewed you before, they will waive it. HOWEVER, the backlog is huge already. This means adjudicators are expected to work through any case unless there are serious concerns and then they transfer the case to the field office. Hence, expect processing times for the I-751 to increase. The only work around is to file the N-400 even if your I-751 is pending. That seems to speed up the process because the N-400 is generally processed quickly and hits a hard stop with a pending I-751. But that brings its own set of issues. Sometimes officers don't bother to request the I-751 file. So you get to your N-400 interview, only to be turned away (against USCIS policy and procedures) or the officer follows procedure and conducts the interview but may not adjudicate it because with the I-751 file is not there.
