Unfortunately this does not work this way many of us October filers have not gotten our EAD yet and it is still a normal wait (wait is now 5/7 months on the official website). I know of September filers who are still waiting.

Unfortunately or fortunately some FO are faster than others. My for sure is the slowest in the country.

Long timer lurker here.

Just got the message that my wife's EAD is ordered today and want to share our experience.

I have a quick question. My wife leaves tomorrow for China with Emergency Travel Document.
The Emergency Travel Document has a 30-day validity period from the time of approval.

Can she overstay the Emergency AP while I bring the EAD card to her later?

12/31/18 - Package Mailed out.
01/04/19 - Package Received. PD.
01/12/19 - Check Cashed.
01/25/19 - Bio Appointment Letter received.
02/07/19 - Bio Completed.
02/25/19 - Ready to be schedule for Interview.
03/18/19 - Requested I-765 to be expedited -- Denied.
03/31/19 - Requested I-765 to be expedited through Congressman -- Denied.
04/02/19 - Called USCIS for field office appointment.
04/04/19 - Field office appointment for Emergency Travel Document. - Approved.
04/12/19 - Just received the message that the card is being ordered.

guys judging by the case tracker app, these uscis guys are picking cases from any-which order.. its not making any sense!

right, i was shocked! seems New York is at a 6 month processing now. checked an saw where alot of others had interviews scheduled as well. I'm thinking maybe if I didn't receive a RFE i would have gotten interviewed in April, but its still a year sooner than expected so.

I agree - my card production (for I-765) was ordered on 4/9. But then yesterday my case status "updated" again and now says card production ordered on 4/16. I've already received paper approval notices for I-131 and I-765.

To complicate things further, I'm out of the country currently - I have a valid H1-B visa and will return to the country using the visa. I'm curious to see what happens with my I-765 and I-131. Technically they are approved but I haven't received the card.

I was told that if you re-enter the country without AP, it will jeopardize your pending I-485. I think you should check it out.

You can travel internationally while your I-485 is pending if you have AP or have a valid visa in certain categories - H1-B is one of those categories. I returned to the US on 4/23 and I got an update on my I-765 that the card was mailed to me. I used my H1-B to re-enter the country.

I'm interested to see if the card I receive is a combo card or just for the employment authorization. I do have paper approval notices for I-765 and I-131, so I'm assuming it's a combo card.

Does anyone have experience as far as which documents they presented? I think we will try to get him a state issued ID card from the DMV. I didn't realize that foreign passports are only allowed with the 551 stamp or an unexpired I94. My husband arrived on a B2 visa, which expired after 6 months and he has been in the country for 10 months.

I see a lot of posts about other members here who are just waiting for some news, my fingers are crossed for us all...

I don't have experience but from: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9 is enough to present only one document from List A, and number 4 is Employment Authorization Document that contains a photograph (Form I-766), so the EAD card is enough for I9. I guess they may need the SSN (card) too but not for I9.
