                • Hi everyone,

This forum really helped me out a lot and I always found great advice and information by other users. So, I would like to share my timeline and experience so far. For dates and details, etc. please see timeline below. It has been quite a journey but there is finally some light at the end of the tunnel..
                  • First, I started with an insufficient payment amount on one of their forms which brought me into the December group. My goal was the November group lol.
                  • Then, the next struggle was to receive the Biometrics appointment for a location almost 1000 miles away from me. Since we planned to relocate in early 2019, we decided to put down different addresses for the physical and mailing locations. Unfortunately, USCIS seem to pick the mailing address to determine their local office. An USCIS employee suggested over the phone to try the Philadelphia office at the same day and time but there was no guarantee that they would take me. I risked it and drove to the Philadelphia office in the morning watching the sunrise over the beautiful skyline. At the end, they took me in with no questions asked.
                  • After months of hearing nothing from them, we received a RFE letter. When filling out all the forms, I made a mistake on my wife's I-864. I don't know how it happened but I left one cell blank (typically I left all unused cells with a "N/A" but this one slipped through). Since it was the cell about her expected salary in 2018 which needed to meet the poverty guidelines (which it did), they assumed the reported expected salary for that year was $0. The previous years, my wife went to college and her income did not meet the requirements. Since there was just a mistake in the form, we called USCIS to find out if we can re-submit the I-864 with updated data including her tax return since 2018 was over. Unfortunately, this USCIS representative was not helpful at all. Her response was basically that we can do it at our own risk but her recommendation was to follow the instructions from the RFE. The letter recommended to have another US citizen to "co-sign" to meet the poverty guidelines. We ended up sending back one new I-864 from her dad and one updated one from her. They did accept our documents but we don't know which one they exactly took to move forward with the case.
                  • My birthday is getting closer and closer (July 12) and we booked a trip to St. Martin in like March since it is my 30th birthday. I started getting nervous about the travel permit which I need by then in order to emigrate back into the US. Fortunately, I received a job offer which I took as a chance to expedite the EAD (my thought would be that the card is almost always a combi card anyways). One week later, I requested to expedite my travel permit due to my grandmothers health condition. I was getting ready to fly home to see her again or maybe one last time (she is 85 by now) but luckily, she is already doing much better and I likely won't have to fly home in the very close future. I don't know if the request to expedite my EAD was granted or if they regularly processed my case. But after all, my EAD got approved together with my travel permit (combi card). In between, I received the courtesy letter about the missing I-693.
                  • Interesting fact: Some online updates I received through the "My USCIS"-account and others only through the status case homepage. Sometimes, the other one would update the next day or not at all..
                  • As of 6/26: Waiting to have my EAD / Travel permit in my hands & getting ready for my 30th birthday trip & start applying at companies (the job offer I had did not work out).

                  Best regards from Florida,
                  Sebastian

                  • Thank ya'll loads for your help on this forum. I have been a silent lurker. Today my wife and I got approved on the spot.
We filed concurrent forms. We did not received the EAD despite filing for it. We asked why we didn't received it
and the officer informed us that they are currently prioritizing people seeking asylum for EAD. Our interview took place
at the San Diego field office. It was a great experience. The officer gave a listening ear to everything we had to say to support our case.
One hour after leaving the office our status changed. The entire process 179 days. It was
a very anxious and disappointing wait because we didn't receive the EAD before our interview, but I guess God had
something greater in store for us.

We credit our success to the level of organization that was put into preparing our documents that we filed along with the
supporting documents that we took to the interview. Overall we were over prepared.

                    Here is our timeline
                    Dec. 26, 2018 - Documents mailed
                    Dec. 31, 2018 - Documents received @ Chicago lockbox
Jan 7, 2019 - Receipt notices received in the mail.
                    Feb 2, 2019 - Biometrics letter received
                    Feb 5, 2019 - Walk-in biometrics done
April 18, 2019 Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview
May 21, 2019 Interview was scheduled
June 27, 2019, Interviewed --- Approved on spot. Within an hour after leaving the interview we got the notification that "New Card is Being Produced.

Feel free to ask any questions.

                      • Hello Everyone,
I've a precarious situation and need some legal advice if someone can provide.

I have been working with same employer overseas and then in USA on work VISA for almost 10 years.
After marriage I received EAD through personally sponsored Spouse based GC application .
But Im still working with the same employer, now based upon EAD not VISA.

I filed for Adjustment of status in December-2018 and My I-485 application is in Ready to schedule for interview status, since February 11 2018
I applied at Newark NJ location.

Problem is, Now my employer want me to relocate to a different state to work on a different project.
My wife (US Citizen) is an Engineer and works in NYC and cant quit her stable job to move to a new state with me.

It's not easy to get another job so quick. Or maybe I'm not smart enough.
I tried to find a job in nearby area and wasted good amount of time on it, now I've just a week to decide,

I'm thinking about, for time being moving to another state while my wife stay here in NJ until I find a new job back here in NJ/NY area
Not sure when our interview will be scheduled, maybe I'll find a new job before it.

                        Now my question is,

If our GC interview get scheduled before I move back, Will this create a problem in adjudication ?
                        Or
I should just quit my job and get Jobless and start searching?

                        • MPS I guess you have renewed the EAD, right? There are longer waiting times now for EAD so renew early.

You just need to do what is expected on a normal marriage.
                          - I bet you are going to travel back an forth to see your spouse and/or your spouse do the same
                          - I bet will be difficult for you/your relationship if you go jobless, with the difference in income and the uncertainty of how long you will be without job
                          - still have trips together (vacation)
                          - you can prove that you are looking for a job to be back living 24/7 with your spouse

Letter from you job for relocation, how much you earn, your search for jobs in the area, etc. will prove you are not voluntarily separating your spouse for other reasons but for your job and your spouse's job.

                          Not professional opinion. Good luck.

                            - I bet you are going to travel back an forth to see your spouse and/or your spouse do the same
                            - I bet will be difficult for you/your relationship if you go jobless, with the difference in income and the uncertainty of how long you will be without job
                            - still have trips together (vacation)

                            • Went for the interview today at federal plaza in Manhattan and was approved on the spot. The interview was short and to the point. We were called in, the IO confirmed that we had a child together and then proceeded to take the photos and fingerprints. After which he asked for the medical and if we have any joint documents together. We gave him a joint bank statement for June, copy of joint credit card and some pictures and he gave us back most of the pictures. Also another copy of daughter's foreign birth certificate and CRBA which was previously submitted.

He then asked us to stand and we swore our oath. He asked me to confirm my name, date of birth and address. He asked my husband where did I work in my home country and what did I do and asked me where does my husband work and what is his job title.

We then went through some of the eligibility questions which he was ticking off with a red pen as we went through. After which he asked me to sign and then gave me a white sheet of paper which he said was a receipt and proof that he conducted our interview. I also received a document which said our case was approved and explained that the green card is conditional and that I would need to remove the conditions.

within an hour the text messages came in to say that the cases were updated and card is being produced. Interestingly though, the online status of the I130 is saying "case was reopened for reconsideration" but the email received said "For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations."
