Hi guys, am still waiting for interview but am preparing ahead of time. My husband is self-employed but doesn't really keep record of his income or file taxes etc. He does not have health insurance either... I am currently employed (thank god for EAD), I make significantly more than he does and I am signing up for medical insurance through my work. When I add my spouse to the insurance, the cost is so expensive, like ridiculously expensive. So I am wondering if it is absolutely necessary to have him on my insurance? If we went for interview and they see my income compared to his (which is pretty much non-existent) they may wonder why he is not on my insurance? Has anyone gone for interview without having joint medical?

Joint health insurance is just one of many ways of showing evidence of bona fide marriage. Never stretch your legs beyond the length of your sheet - It does not translate well but my grandmother used to say. If it does not make sense financially to have joint health insurance, then don't.
Find other ways to show evidence of bona fide marriage; i.e., that you entered the marriage in good faith and with the intent to build a life together. Focus on showing the longevity of your relationship. Start with evidence since the day you met.
Many have found this thread very helpful in preparing their evidence of bona fide marriage for their initial AOS filing and their interview.
