  • I-485 adjustment of status- Interview

    Hi

I was recently interviewed for my form I-485. I got the letter from the officer saying that my I-485 interview is complete. The letter further says that my case is held for review but USCIS doesn't require any further information or documents from me. The officer didn't ask for any RFE except that my medical was expired and he asked me to resubmit it. Most importantly, the officer said that my priority date is not current and my case will be reviewed once the priority date becomes current (my priority date is just a month away from the the date they stopped issuing green cards). Can anybody suggest what exactly it means?

As soon as your priority date becomes current per the visa bulletin, they will complete the review of your application and if you met all requirements at that time you will be approved.

When the date becomes current is not guaranteed. Sometimes the date moves forward, sometimes the date stays the same and some time it moves back (retrogression). Keep an eye on the visa bulletin which is issued around the 10th every month.
