  • Medical Examination

    Hello everyone,

I finally got my interview date for the 24th of January so it took about a year and 1 month. I submited my medical examination with my application back in Dec of 2017. I was wondering if i had to get a new medical examination. The interview letter said that if I submitted it with my application there was nothing else needed, but I know they expire after 1 year. any advice?

Congratulations on your interview! USCIS revised its policy guidance for the validity period of Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record. See for yourself. https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/us...-manual-update

Also to give a quick summary of where the two year validity applies (from an expensive corporate immigration lawyer)

. PER THE NEW GUIDANCE, MEDICAL EXAMS ARE VALID FOR TWO YEARS FROM THE DATE SIGNED BY THE PHYSICIAN. SO LONG AS IT WAS SIGNED WITHIN 60 DAYS OF FILING. YOU SHOULD CHECK THE DATE OF THE MEDICAL
Priority date of Oct 30th 2017
      12/05/2017 - Did my biometrics
12/17/2017 - Got a RFE requesting my USC sponsors tax information for proof of sponsorship
12/19/2017 - USCIS received our RFE response on December 19th
      02/03/2018 - got my combined EAD\AP
10/04/2018 - Status updated in the USCIS case tracker as "Ready to schedule interview"
      10/09/2018 - Applied for EAD\AP Renewal
12/26/2018 - Got a notification that the "interview was scheduled"
      01/31/2019 - Interview date

I filed July 2017 and got my interview date January 18, I just got my medical exam done last Wednesday and I hope is ready by the 17. I didn't get it done when I first filed because I was afraid it was going to expired before I got an interview date.
Best of luck on your interview.

If you dont have the medical done in time, I believe you can explain and they will give you an RFE with some extra time to submit the medical. I checked with my lawyers (since I am in the same situation) and they indicated they give you about 20 days after the interview date to submit. So you are probably fine.

Of course it would be optimL to have it complete so you dont have to worry about an RFE at all.
