  • FYI - InfoPass New York Office

    Hi all,

    Just FYI:

We recently talked about the fact that it will soon no longer be possible to make InfoPass appointment online in many offices. It is still possible to get an appointment but only on the phone. Many see that as a good way to filter the unnecessary appointments (for a change of address, for instance). Well it will shortly be the case as well in NYC, one of the busiest field offices, as the website states:

    Important office information

ATTENTION: In two weeks, this USCIS office will stop accepting walk-in requests and scheduling InfoPass appointments for information services. At that time, appointments for document services (such as passport stamps and advance parole) and true emergencies can be made by contacting the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283. USCIS representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern, except on federal holidays.

I just don't think this speeds up anything. By doing this, the USCIS is getting less and less transparent. It's getting harder and harder to get a hold of a real officer. How many of you guys successfully talked to a tier 2 officer via calls? I have never had a chance, they put me in the queue and they never called me back. I even think of starting a lawsuit to make the process more transparent.

I have spoken to an officer every single time I callled and asked. Usually if one is not available I opt to get a call back. 1 time I was told that i’d have to wait 2 hours for a call back, I got a call back in 20 minutes. Other times, like if I call at 8am sharp eastern time, I get an officer right away

Never had to call them so far, but I hope my experience will be similar to yours!

I was always put into a queue and really noone ever calls me back. No idea why. But did they actually provide you with good information? I've heard these tier 2 guys are just higher level customer service and not really immigration officers.

I spoke with immi officer, that’s who I spoke with. Each time one would answer they would say “I am office xyz”
I am yet to understand what tier 2 officers mean.

Also, the call from 800 000 0000 number some times or so other kind of weird number that caller ID is UNITED STATES OF AM. I hope you did not see a weird number calling and ignored.
