  • 7 months after interview finally got a letter

We had our interview in June. Since then it’s been radio silence since.
Today we received a letter requesting additional evidence to make a decision on the case. It requested that we appear in person with passports, marriage lincese, birth certificate, etc.

Anyone with similar experience? Is this good new or is it time to hire a lawyer?

We had our interview for Marriage based green card. I’m a citizen applying for my husband.
We submitted our application 7/17 and interview was conducted on 6/18.
Interview went very smoothly, officer said our case was approvable and let us go.
The case status changed same day to “interview competed and my case must be reviewed.”
Since then we have done info pass, case inquiries and have not received any information except we have to wait.
Today we received the letter requesting more evidence, requesting we bring in person passports and other original documents.

Just wondering what it means. If it’s just a Stokes interview then I guess we are good, we’ve been married 6 years and 2 kids under our belt. With more than enough supporting documents

I am just not familiar with the term Stokes interview because RFE can be done by mail fast and no need for an interview.
I am kinda similar situation my PD early 2017 and had my interview last August my case since then must be reviewed and didn't hear anything back

In our case the letter said we have to be there in person. Doesn’t say anything about interview, just that we have to bring the requested evidence. Who knows...

It is very good to know that you guys have been together for 6 years with 2 children so no need to stress or worry as long as you’re in a bonafide marriage.

If they ask you to bring such documents did they say where ? One is presuming you have a stokes interview because you’re very vague in stating where is this place they want you to bring documents to ? Does that mean you are expecting an additional letter ?

My apologies, I thought it was implied. They asked us to go to the same building we went for our original interview.

from the google: The Stokes interview is a secondary interview conducted on a couple who are trying to obtain an immigration green card in the United States on the basis of their marriage. It occurs when the immigration officer conducting the adjustment of status interview suspects that a couple's marital status is fraudulent.
