Interview soon Worked for 5 days.will it be a problem?

Hi,

My AOS interview is coming up soon and I have a small problem. A few months ago, I met this guy who had a company and was doing clean up like removing debris and wood from houses that were affected by Hurricane Harvey. He asked if I wanted to help and I obliged since I was home doing nothing. I did this for a total of 5 days and in the end he gave me some cash and told me thanks for helping. Would this be a problem for my AOS interview? MY wife is a USC but I am unsure about this. IS this considered working without authorization? IF asked did I work without authorization should I say yes? Please help.

My understanding is Filing AOS status forgives overstaying or working without authorization.
I got a social security number through the school I was going to. Things got hard because my step dad who sponsored me to come here for sick and couldn’t support my education anymore. I worked for Macy’s thinking because I had a social security card I could work anywhere but that wasn’t true without EAD. I have an interview on Feb 14 and I did put in that I worked for Macy’s on the forms. The paralegal that prepared my form told me it will be ok. It’s better to be truthful than not. So if they ask just tell the truth. You can say it was an odd job.

Don't lie. Just tell him you helped out a guy cleaning up Hurricane damage and when you were done he slipped you some cash. That's it. as long as you tell truth its ok.

Why is this even an issue? I doubt the immigration officer will even ask about it. This is a minute problem in my opinion. Answer yes or no and keep your answers short and to the point.

Ok but why would I say if the officer did not ask?
If he/she asks me about work then yes I'd surely say helped a person for 5 days and out of courtesy or appreciation he paid.

What are you talking about ? k6543 Ligitt said the right thing. Don’t go blab your mouth unnecessarily. YES, be honest ! I was 100% honest on my forms. But this was a 4 days job and seems to have come AFTER OP filed his papers. They really don’t care, it’s not like he made a million dollars
