USCIS gave me a green card before completing my NIW waiver. It is a 5 year waiver, but already had 3 years due to a J1 waiver. I'm 1 year short of completing the 5 years, and my lawyer is recommending to return the green card and have them send me another one when I complete the 5 years. Otherwise I may have problems when I apply for citizenship. Has anyone heard of a similar situation?
