I wonder was going on at NBC and why is taking so long for some people and just few weeks for others?
When I apply back in January and everywhere I read the time was 90 days... it’s so frustrating, I need to find a job soon.

              • I just got my GC. Below is the interview report and the time line. A special thanks to user UScitizenFilingforspouse, who made the process a lot easier. By his advice, I frontloaded the application.

I had the interview at Federal Plaza NY. It was super quick, no more than 15 minutes. The IO didn't seem to know much about our case, I think she had just briefly looked at it.
She basically made us swear. Asked for the original marriage certificate and the form I-693 (never asked for birth certicates). Then asked me the Yes/No questions and if we had any extra evidence for her. While I was handing her the extra evidence - from which she took just a few pages of each stack - she asked a few questions, like where did you meet, if we had any pictures of the wedding, and also asked me the names of my wife's dad and sister on a picture. She seemed to particularly like the 2018 tax returns of my wife and the sponsor when I offered it.

And that was it. She gave me the white paper and said that I should expect to hear back in 6 to 8 weeks. I then explicitly asked if the case was approved and she responded that she needed to review it.

We went to dunkin donuts to have coffee and speculate what are our plans now for every possible outcome since I still don't have my EAD. One hour later the status changed to new card is being produced.

                      • Received my courtesy letter re: I-693 medical exam today, dated 5/29/2019. This is the first notice/update from USCIS we've gotten since the biometric appointment was scheduled back in February. At least I know that someone actually looked at the file, so there is that!

                            • EAD/Combo card is in the mail, but that is because we filed for AP expedite based on "nonprofit organization whose request is in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States" My husband (beneficiary) was invited to speak at a conference overseas so we went through our senator's office for the expedite. We submitted letters from his university, the conference host, and our own message outlining the situation. All letters were framed to comply with USCIS expedite criteria. Assuming the card arrives this week, the whole expedite process will have taken 3.5 weeks, so that's something to consider if you're looking to get a combo card quickly.

                              • And today we got notice that our case is ready to be scheduled for an interview. I think this means they are sending the file to the local office (and hopefully no RFE possibility). Hoping this means that the EAD approval will be coming sooner (6.5 months) rather than later (8.5 months)!
