Yup. A bunch of people don't even have EADs/AP. In my case, I need that by end of August when my visa expires or will lose my job - and that's a huge deal. When I filed, the time period for getting EAD was months before my visa expiration, but since it's been delayed every single month, I will be without work authorization if I don't get approval on the earlier side of the predicted range (6.5 months). I'd rather wait for 2 years for a greencard as long as I have an EAD and AP in the meantime.

Wow, so jealous. We filed my husband's package in early feb but was just browsing here to get an idea of where things are at. We filed Feb 8, so it's been 126 days. Biometrics received march 6 and we have no movement at all. We were advised we would def have travel auth by right around now so we planned our large italian wedding reception for august. my MIL has invited over 100 people and us and my family members have bought flights. now we might have to cancel. afraid to break my MIL's heart

We filed an expedite request under one of the seven criteria established by USCIS: “nonprofit organization whose request is in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the US”. My husband was invited to speak at a conference overseas so we got letters from the conference host and husband’s university requesting the expedite based on this criteria. In your case, you will need to make your request based on an “emergency situation” with documentation to support that (i.e., letter from your mom’s doctor stating she is gravely ill and may die in a few months). Put yourself in the shoes of someone reviewing your case: is what your are submitting clearly and convincingly in support of USCIS criteria? If so, you should receive the expedite in several weeks (took us 3 weeks). Use a congressman or senator to make the expedite on your behalf. Good luck!

I know the feeling (( I haven't seen my family in almost 2 years.
Expedites should be granted also for happy reasons, not only when somebody dies or they get sick.. It's hard enough for us, the applicants.

I just noticed that someone in the October 2018 group received an expedite based on her attending her sister’s wedding, so it looks like USCIS also considers important events as emergencies, even happy ones
