  • Processing times for EB3

I'm trying to figure when I can expect my interview and the green card.

    Processing Center: Nebraska

    Field Office: San Jose

    May 3, 2018: Filed I-140 and I-485 jointly (EB3, priority date current)

    June 14, 2018: Biometrics

August 9, 2018: RFE for documentation of salary

    October 20, 2018: Case transferred

Per the USCIS website the processing time for San Jose for employment based I485 is 7.5 Months to 17 Months.

So best case your interview comes up shortly or worst case you wait another 10 months.

According to this website you actually have to add up the times for I-140 processing and I-145 process.

This fact sheet provides an overview of how USCIS calculates processing times and the concerns over the accuracy of these estimates.

Can anyone confirm if that's true?

Not 100% sure about that. If the website states it, it is probably true.

I was hoping someone can confirm or refute, because that's the difference between "your interview notice will most likely come any day now" and "you'll have to wait at least half a year".

The lower range of the time interval in the processing times (7.5 months in this case) is actually the median time people wait. So half the people would get their green card even faster than that.

If you need to know for sure, I would recommend you validate with your employer’s lawyers.
Alternatively you can sign up for a discussion forum that is focused on EB applications. This forum has mostly FB applicants. There will certainly be many folks that can confirm or refute this there.
