  • I-693 Medical Report validity - within one year

I have a interview scheduled end of this month. I had mailed my i-693 form along with my form i485.
Interview notice says bring the following items, one of which is:
" A completed medical exam (Form I-693) and vaccination supplement in a sealed envelope (unless already submitted within the last year)"

My question is from what date is the "within the last year" calculated. I am hoping that the one I already mailed will work and I won't be asked to get a new form i-693. I have a separated copy of the i-693 which I got from the civil surgeons office where I did my medical exam and will be taking with me to the interview.

Here are my dates for the 485 submission and interview notice and date.

Civil surgeon signed my i693 on 12/28/2017
The form 485 received date is listed as 02/27/2018.
    Interview notice date is 12/20/2018
    Interview date is 01/25/2019

Wondering if my i-693 previously submitted is good for the interview.

USCIS needs to adjudicate within 2 years after the civil surgeon signed Form I-693 and the Form I-693 that the applicant submitted is signed by a civil surgeon no more than 60 days before the date the applicant filed the application.

See chapter 4 in this link:
    A. Results of the Medical ExaminationThe physician must annotate the results of the examination on the following forms:Panel Physicians

I guess the main question is how they calculate the 60 days.
Employment based AOS (EB1C) - San Bernardino office(CA)

    JUL - 2018 - applications for I-485, I-765 and I-131 concurrent filing
    AUG - 2018 - bio metrics complete
    DEC - 2018 - I-765 & I-131 approved
    DEC - 2018 - combo cards received
    DEC - 2018 - courtesy letter for missing I-693
DEC - 2018 - social security cards received
    DEC - 2018 - interview for I-485 scheduled
JAN - 2019 - interview & on the spot approval
    FEB - 2019 - I-485 approved
    FEB - 2019 - green cards in hand 😎

Your medical has evidentiary value (i.e. it is 'valid') for one year after you submit it to uscis IF you submitted it prior to November 1, 2018 AND the civil surgeon signed it less than 1 year before you submitted it to uscis AND the civil surgeon signed it more than 60 days before you submitted it. In your case, your medical ~should~ retain its validity until 2/27/2019, if that is when you also submitted the medical. HOWEVER, you are very close. It looks like 60 days after 12/28/17 is 02/26/2018. Which means your medical was received 60 days after it was signed. This means that you should be under the old rule. But it would be better for you if you were under the new rule, since your medical would be valid until 12/28/19. Either way you should be fine, but the new rule is obviously more comfortable, especially if they do not approve your case right after your interview.

The new uniform 2 year rule is applied to all cases where the underlying benefit application (for example, I-485) was submitted after November 1, 2018 AND in cases submitted before November 1, 2018 where you submitted it WITHIN 60 days of the civil surgeon signing it.

This is outlined in the Policy Manual. The PM explains the current (new) rule, as well as the previous rule. It also explains how applications submitted after November 1, 2018 will be calculated.

Here is the link so you can read yourself: https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/H...-Chapter4.html

        60 Days Rule

        Hi everyone,

Thanks for your answers. Actually, 60 days rule is confusing. I treid to get answer from a lot of people but that is unclear.

I have submitted my I-485 on Oct 2017 with Medical Exam which was done on June 2017 ( More than 60 Days)

I have done another exam on Oct 2018 and My Interview is on March 12th, 2019.

Do I need to get new exam? or 5-6 months old is fine.

        Many thanks
