  • Transfer of File to NBC

    Hello,

I filed my concurrent application at NSC with PD as 3/1/2018. Got I 140 approved on 12/10/18 and today when I checked my application status, it shows that my file has been transferred to a different center. My assumption it will be to National Benefit Center. My doubts:

    1. How I check processing time at NBC?
    2. Will they process my application in 1-2 months or wait for my PD date to be current?
    3. What timelines I expect for GC post this transfer?

But you have to find your field office through lookup zipcode at the same website because NBC does not process I485s.

    2. Processing time depends on the field office. If your priority date is not current after the interview, then the file will be moved to the NBC or another service center until your date becomes current

Will my I-485 be transferred back to an field office when it becomes current?

      Hello BluePanther,

You are right. My I-485 was transferred to TSC and is waiting for current. May I know if it will be transferred back to my field office (Chicago Field Office) when it is current? Or will it stay at TSC and post GC in the eld?

      Thanks

I think TSC will do the final adjudication in your situation, but I am not sure.

Thanks BluePanther, My understanding after reading your views?

          1. My case will now be handled by Cleveland office(checked through postal code) and they will schedule interview.
          2. Once Intw. is done and my PD is not current at Cleveland office, file will move back to Nebraska or NBC?
3 Once my PD is current, it will move back to Cleveland (or field office near to my residence) and they will issue me the card?

          ?

I think so, although I think final adjudication in scenario 3 would be done by the NSC or NBC service centers. I dont think it needs to move back to the field office, if the only reason is the priority date. Not sure about it though.

              Thanks again Bluepanther....few more doubts:

              1. After moving to Cleveland office, how much time they will take for scheduling intw...?
              2. Shall I take appnt for my medical or wait for direction from USCIS?
              3. If change my residence post intw (outside US, most likely Canada).. hope it will be fine?

                1. Processing time average can be found at the USCIS website
                2. That is up to you. I think they are now valid for two years, but if you have to wait for the interview for a long time then there may still be risk of expiry.
                3. I dont think you can move abroad during AOS, but you should check this with a lawyer to make sure. I am no an expert on the legal matters.

Processing time shown on USCIS portal is always ~12 months. But wanted to understand in general how much time office take, how soon others are getting those intw. dates?
for travelling , I've EAD/AP card till next year, post intw.. do you feel its a must... I understand you may not know...

Precise processing times are anyones guess. If there are no issues with your application I see most people on the lower end of the 12 month range. But it is inconsistent at best.

Intent of my question is, that I need to change my location in May June 2019 (post kids finish their schools), and if scheduling interview takes more time, then I would move in May/June instead of Nov/Dec, as then my PD will be closer to get current...

I am not 100% sure on that question. My understanding is that your processing time changes to the new office if you move. Whether there is an additional delay due to the mid process move is difficult to tell. USCIS processing times give a range of sometimes up to 2 years. Perhaps its worth opening a separate thread to ask if anyone has experience with moving address and field office mid process.

If your current office has better processing times, I do think the best approach for the green card is to wait with moving, however sometimes life does not allow the luxury of timing.
