I don't know much but I understand that AOS EAD is not restricted, so you can work in any field.

I think you are no longer limited by F1 status. My guess is once you use your EAD you no longer be in F1 status, because working outside school without OPT EAD or something like that is not permitted.

Did you inform your school that your are AOS? Maybe they need to put something on their records and I guess they will have some experience with cases like yours.

Like AMEnub4 had mentioned, if you got your EAD through AOS, you can work in any field (meaning unrestricted). Once you start using AOS EAD, you are no longer in F1 status, therefore, you do not have to follow F1 rule where you can only work in IT field. If you have decided to use AOS EAD to take any jobs (including driving as Uber and IT jobs), you want to inform your school and Social Security office to update your status. Just so they know you are in AOS and you are not violating your F1 status.

You can also maintain your F-1 status while waiting for your interview, getting EAD through your AOS does not mean that your F-1 status has been canceled.
Please do not give advise if you are not a 100% sure.

Its always good to ask attorney

I think you have misunderstood our message. Getting EAD through AOS does not cancel F-1 status but it will cancel F-1 and change to AOS status if one starts using AOS EAD to verify I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification). Maybe you should read carefully. As the disclaimer stated in the forum, "We take no responsibility for accuracy of information provided. Please use at your own risk."

ArizonaPHX didn't like my "I think" and "I guess", sorry about that, but because I'm not a lawyer and just a guy that want to help, I try to make sure the people reading my post know that my information is not 100%.

If you are in F1 Status and you want to keep it until you get your green card, then you must follow all the F1 restrictions. There is no point of getting EAD/AP for your AOS (if you want to keep F1) because you will change your status to AOS as soon as you start using your AOS EAD or travel outside USA and use AP to enter.

You should contact your DSO as soon as you get a job outside what your F1 allows. Personally I will contact them as soon as I have plans to work outside what my F1 allows.

Yes, maybe this information is not 100% correct, you should contact your DSO and lawyer to be sure.

This is a discussion forum, so it should be fine to share your thoughts if you think you can help. If anyone needs accurate information to make decisions on their case which can impact their life, I would recommend them to go to a lawyer and not a discussion forum.
