I do think insurance covers bloodwork, so some people may be getting the discounted quotes. You may be getting the complete out-of-pocket quote unfortunately! But definitely double check. I would ask why the labwork is so expensive
Thank you - will the bloodwork be more expensive if they include this too? Like if i have to pay for the bloodwork AND the vaccination should I just go ahead with the vaccine on it's own anyway?

I wouldn't get the varicella vaccine just yet if you've gotten chicken pox before It'll likely show up that you are immune. Unfortunately I don't think there is a way out of the bloodwork because they have to test you for TB either way, unless you have proof I think.

Oops edited my post as I read somewhere else you can't get on your husband's insurance because you don't have SSN. Bummer!!

Is it correct that some vaccines are age related? I've looked on the CDC website and it says things like Rotavirus are not required in certain age groups if it was never given as a child. So might it be that the ones I haven't had I may not need anyway?

I also had my TB vaccination at school... so I have no proof of this other than a tick in my vaccination booklet and the classic BCG scar on my arm. I hope this is enough.. I'm not up for paying for a TB immunity test on top of this fee.

Last question, is the chest x-ray only applicable if you show signs of TB? From what I've read this appears to be the case but I'm just after clarification!

        Thanks!

Usually, if you are vaccinated for TB then the blood test may show some traces. It happened to me and the surgeon asked me to go for chest X-ray for confirmation. It was negative ultimately.

In my case they inject me three vaccinations; i.e. Pneumococcal vaccination, Meningitis and Flus shot. I think if you don't have vaccination record then they would ask you for those three.

This is personal opinion and not a legal advice.

What on earth is the point in testing immunity to TB if the vaccine means you have traces of it in you, seems a bit silly! I actually found out today that the discount should cover the bloods too, unlike what the previous lady told me. So that's really good to know!

I'm sure my MIL told me in general conversation a while ago that this place was the cheapest for labs in the area too, weird. I am going there tomorrow so will enquire again.

That's great, I've already had MMR as a child, I had the Tdap recently while pregnant, Varicella I did have as a child too but all I have to prove it is a scar on my knee and a photo of me covered in pox hahaha. Wonder if they will accept that haha! I really just want to get this medical over and done with, it's causing me great stress!
My doctor accepted that we had the Chicken Pox as kids without requiring evidence. For MMR they require evidence of the immunizations, does not matter if you had any of the diseases.

If you are an adult the pneumococcal and meningitis should not be age appropriate.

I wonder why they accepted that about the chicken pox but not anything else. Sorry, I don't think I was very clear. I had the MMR vaccination as a child and luckily I have two different documents with proof of this.
From what I read about the meningitis and pneumococcal on the CDC website, it says they're only recommended for individuals with other indications unless in certain age groups. In my age group it wasn't indicated... is it still required for immigration purposes even though I don't have other indications?

They may have ran a blood test anyway and put down the date as the day you went in if the results come back showing you are immune. I brought in proof of my MMR vaccinations but I got the lab bill yesterday and it shows they ran it as part of the blood test. The lab test was only ~$180.

What is your age group? If you are 19-49, they only care about varicella, influenza, MMR, Td/Tdap. Everything else for me was marked as Not Age Appropriate (though they filled out dates sometimes if I had the shot when I was a kid, like for Hib or something). I would follow this website: https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/H...-Chapter9.html
