  • Anyone had Interview Experience with Questions about Taxes?

    Hi guys,

Anyone has experienced in the interview officer asking questions about taxes? like why you didnt pay tax? why didnt you file tax?

My friend is out of status, pending AOS and married to USC, she has never filed tax and get cash paid, she was honest and put down her employment info on the application. Her employer refused to give her 1099 because the employer is so scared that they would get in trouble from hiring her. she will file marriage-jointly since she is married now.My friend asked a couple of lawyers and they all said the immigration usually wont ask about taxes in the interview? they are more concern if the marriage is real of not.

Anyone has any experience? please share

Taxes have not been an issue from what I have read here. My wife was also out of status for a long time and we were never asked.

Thanks for your reply. Did she file taxes when she was out of status and put down she was working without authorization in the application?

I read one interview experience on this forum where the IO asked the USC spouse about his past three years of tax returns. From what I recall, he had not filed for one of those years. Again this was a question to the USC spouse, not the immigrant.
