  • Had our aos interview today lasted less than 10 mins

We went to marriage aos interview today with no decision made on spot.
It was really fast... process was less than 10 minutes. We are gay couple and the indian officer didn't ask us many questions. He seemed disinterested (or homophobic, in rush?) and only asked few questions like how did you guys meet, his parents name, your previous address, my job (but didn't ask for any pay stubs or employment letter) nothing about detailed or personal questions. He asked us to submit birth certificate, ID. We provided utilities bills, leasing agreement, photos as additional evidence. The process was silent and he didn't feel like to interact with us even when I initiated topics like weather only getting ignored.. and we didn't expect it would end up this fast. Others who went inside earlier were still in the rooms interviewing. He mentioned will mail us the notice. We are really worried is it a normal situation? We are really upset with this IO !

Sorry for you guys. If I may, though, I never heard that about Indian people, but this really sounds like a racist stereotype. Not ideal.
Good luck for the rest of your process, if you have a bona fide marriage and sent your application with a bunch of evidence, it should not be an issue.

sorry for the posts earlier...I apologize to make you feel this way definitely not my intention. and I do have indian friends mentioned this. It's not a pleasant experience during the process. He didn't even bother to reply when I said thank you goodbye. fyi: people assume where you come from, your nationality, race but should I take it as a stereotyping racism? even the immigration security mentioned?

I am Indian and your description of the officer sounds a lot like how an officer in India would behave i.e to the point, asking for documentation, checking for items off the list and validating answers. There is often very little or no chit chat or interactions in general. So looks like you ended up with someone with the same mindset who was basically going through the motions. If your answers were accurate and you have all your supporting documentation in place, you should be good. Don't feel aggravated by the lack of interest shown by the officer.

Good luck and Do keep us posted about how this turns up.

Some people are all business and have no bedside manner. Reminds me of the Mass State Troopers... never smile
