  • questions regarding beneficiary's CHANGE OF ADDRESS on pending AOS

Hi guys! I have some questions regarding the ?change of address? situation and would like to seek your advice 😊
I am on F-1 visa and am married to my USC husband. We?re married for 1 year now and have already filed for AOS, PD Sept 5th 2018, field office Santa Ana. However, I just got accepted into a university in San Diego so I?ll have to rent a room there to attend school starting next month. I also applied to numerous schools nearby but all got rejected because the major is supercompetitive! Anyways, the school is 90 miles away from my home and the whole program lasts about 2.5 years (no summer classes). Since my husband is also attending school in Santa Ana, we can?t afford to have him move 90 miles away with me ☹
    1) Do I really need to file for a change of address, given that I only live in san diego part-time? My plan is to drive home every weekend because I only have classes 4 days/week; and I?ll definitely be home during long vacation like winter and summer too
    2) If I really have to change my address:
    a) Can I still keep our mailing address in my home in santa ana and only change my physical address? In this case, will my field office change too? My husband will still live in santa ana so he?ll continue to keep that address. Will this change of address thing cause any significant delay or expedite in the application process? Right now Santa Ana has 14-32 months and San Diego has 5.5-12 months processing time
    b) Am I required by law to change my DMV address or USPS address too? I see ppl do this so I?m confused
Any advice/opinion would be appreciated. Thank you guys so much ^^
Btw can someone show me how to add my timeline underneath the post? Thanks

I live in Mass so Calif. may be different but students do not have to change their drivers license if they are living in a place just for school. Same should apply for the family home if your husband is staying in the original apartment. I wouldn't change the address seeing as you said its a part time residence. your only there while classes are going on. Kind of like a crash pad if you know what I mean.
