  • Question: Translation Certificates -- Attach original or copy?

    Hi all,

Hope your applications/petitions all get accepted without RFEs.

I'm preparing I-485 packet, and there are a few documents (marriage, birth) requiring translation certificates (e.g., I, ..., certify...).

I got them, but I wonder if I need to submit the original certificates or their copies.

USCIS suggests not to send original documents. But I wonder if it's the case for the translation certificates.

    Could anyone share the experience?

    Thank you in advance!

Thank you so much for sharing the experience. I have separate translate certificates that are signed. It seems that I don't need to the original signed documents, but copies of them.

I don't have much experience, but I understand that you send photocopies of everything and you create a file with all the originals. Then on your interview bring all the originals submitted, any new documents you think may need (new tax year, new passport, new DL, other documents).

Some people even bring copies of some key documents (IDs, birth/marriage certificates, etc), that way the officer doesn't need to make their own copies. Good luck.
