I?m sure everyone has read the stories in the new regarding ICE agents waiting for couples to go to their AOS interviews at USCIS field offices, and detaining interviewees even after the IO has approved their cards. Does anyone know if this devilry is still going on? Can?t help but worry about this in the back of my mind as I wait for my interview date to be scheduled. One such arrest happened at the SF FO.

Yeah that?s what I thought too but the man in SF was seeking asylum and from what I understand he has no deportation order and had no criminal history... hoping this nonsense has stopped.

In my opinion nobody can get in trouble for just going to their interview. I think you don?t know all details about that situation. Maybe they had some troubles with government or criminal god knows. Don?t stress about itbc we all stress too much about the whole process becoming a permanent residents.

There must be more to the story.
I am waiting for my green card and have a EAD now, I overstayed, but I am working at the airport. I even had to go to the TSA office, they asked me about my immigration status, I said overstayed with pending I-485 application, showed the paper.. and was out the office in 5min.

Hopefully that?s the case... If you google this subject there are news articles (reputable sources) that pop up with different stories.. some did have prior deportation orders and others did not have any legal trouble. Hard not to stress, but I guess it?s better to not.
