MY EAD and AP are expiring - I have submitted the renewal some time ago. I read somewhere that automatic extensions are being granted, but my driving license is going to expire based on my EAD. This process cannot get any worse.

Any advice or experience would be appreciated

In Texas they need to check if you are legal before issuing a DL. Our visas expire in 2 years. My wife renewed the license in December and the new license expire in 2 years, I renew in January and my license expire in January 2020 (only a year). I believe they captured some information wrong.

Now when my license expire I may have an EAD that expire in March/April 2020. So it looks like I may be able to get a new DL for only 2/3 months in 2020, then have your same problem.

Or maybe if I already asked for a new EAD (in January 2020) and get the letter, DHS could approve a 1 year license? Who knows.

My inquiry about why it's taking longer than the processing time has not even been assigned to an officer yet... Since 12/12 last year!

They are very strict. I went in last week since my license was expiring on Feb 1st. I walked in with my approval letter from the interview (January 30th) but they would not renew me for 10 years (the NOA arrived on Monday LOL). So i had ro renew for 9 months based on my EAD card while I was already approved as a permanent resident.

Anyway, I will go again in 9 months. Always fun to hang at DMV for half a day 😜
