  • Interview next month, medical is from August 2017.

It's less than two years old, should i still get a new one?

I've read those new rules for the medical but i can't still fully understand them. Does it count only for medicals done AFTER that new rule was laid out?
    Applications: I-102, I-485 and I-130

    PD: 7/24/17
    Biometrics: 9/2/17
We are scheduling your interview: 9/5/17 (then updated to March/15/18)
    EAD: October 2017
    I-102 approved on: 7/25/18
EAD renewal and Advance Parole package received - 12/01/18
EAD renewal being worked on - 12/05/18
Interview scheduled notification received! - 2/6/19

I haven't submitted my I-693 yet. I did it in August of 2017 but has kept it sealed since then. I got the RFE for it and am holding on to it to take it with me to the interview.

Where it says: "No more than 60 days before applicant filed underlying benefit application with USCIS", does it mean No more than 60 days before I-485 application was received by USCIS? Because if that's the case, i THINK i should fall under the category which allows me to take it with me to the interview and NOT have to re-do it since I have NOT submitted the I-693 yet but DID do it AFTER the I-485 application was filed with USCIS.

      so confusing..

To add, here's the column for medical forms SUBMITTED to USCIS AFTER November 2018 (which i THINK i fall under, since i've completed the form but not yet submitted):

As I understand the i693 form is supposed to be 2 months old on the time of filling it. So either way it?s too old right now (before they let you file it up to 12 months old).

If you filed in July, medical in August 2017 and you still have the medical in sealed envelope, yes, I understand the same as you.
Your medical will expire in August 2019.

              I re-read and I think it is correct 😇
Civil surgeon signed less than 60 days prior to filing. In this case it is valid for two years after the date the civil surgeon signed.

I think you are right and I think you should bring that chapter to the interview in case the IO gets confused and thinks it is expired, you can show that you are good per the official policy :-)

1.- You did the medical after filing for benefits
2.- You are submitting to USCIS after November 01, 2018

                    You are on second row:

You have 2 years from date civil surgeon signed I-693

At first, I was confused thinking that the November 01, 2018 date should be the date the civil surgeon signed I-693, but now is clear that is the date when you submit the form to USCIS.

Right, still.. pretty confusing. I'm afraid even the IO's are not fully aware of these rules.

Just print the rules in case he/she is in doubt. Explain you are in the second row for those submitting the medical after Nov 1 2018 and that the test has two year validity.

Hi read your post on I693 on immihelp and I have also read policy on revised validity.
I had filled I693 along with I485 and medicals were signed by civil surgeon in Nov 2017, 20 days before I filled application in Dec 2017. My interview will be in march 2019 I understand the medicals are valid for 2 years but the letter states bring medicals if not already submitted in last 1 year so seems to be a lot confusing but overall if we go by policy looks like my medicals will be valid till Nov 2019 and ideally I should not need new medicals to be done again.
                            Any inputs would help.

You can print the information from previous link (uscis site) and bring that to your interview. Because the civil surgeon signed form I-693 20 days before you submitted your documents, then looking at the table:

you can see that you are in the second row. Your form is valid for 2 years after the civil surgeon signed it.

                              You:
                              - Filed before November 1, 2018
                              - The civil surgeon signed 20 days before I-485
                              - You submitted the I-693 with I-485

I think they are slow to update their systems. Maybe they didn't update the 1 year part on the RFE sent. Good luck.
