I think processing time is very relative. I didn’t ask to expedite i 485 but EAD and interview came first. I even thought my clock was reser because of the RFIE, And thinking about it there should be way more cases in new york compared to Texas, hang in there i know it’s frustrating but your time will come!

That's what I have been thinking! How does it go so fast in New York? I'd think there would be double the amount of people applying for green cards!

It's a mystery. A lot of people/lawyers assume things about case processing but i guess nobody really know. In reality its not fast in New York, i guess i was just blessed because there's people around waiting long time for this.

        • Hi,

just wanted to share my timeline (work based sponsorship – New York):

          23 January – PERM approved

          14 February – Date of filing (I–765, I–485 AOS, I–131)

          12 March – I-140 approval

          11 April – biometrics appointment

21 May - transfer to NBC

I didn't get any note after biometrics, is it ok? And still no EAD card.

          Thank you

Yes, some people get EAD fast, some take 8 months or more. After biometrics, unless you get the EAD, you get RFE or they set an interview, there is nothing mailed.

                      • Hello all I am new here. My husband is the beneficiary. I am a US Citizen. We are in Philadelphia. I am getting nervous about our I-131 as I was told we would get it in 3-4 months but it hasnt come yet. This is our timeline:

                        Filed: 2/8
                        biometrics: 3/6

                        NOTHING SINCE.

The receipt numbers start with MSC so i guess that means its at the national benefits center?

We scheduled a trip to Italy in August for our Italian wedding reception --- what are our chances of going?!??!

                          • lad5144 did you only apply for I-131 or I-765 also? I guess that if you asked for I-765 that will hold back the I-131 so you could get a combo card. The bad news is that is taking more than 6 months for a lot of people.

Yes we applied for both (at recommendation of lawyer)--- his job is how he got his J-1 so I'm not sure if he also needed the I-765? In any event, yes we applied for both.

I wish the lawyers would be more nuanced with that recommendation, based on the current delays with the I-765 ! Average processing time now seems to be over 7 months and growing. My husband is on F1 and also didn't need I-765 but we applied for both, based on recommendations from others who had filed under a different time... even a year ago. I-765 processing has really spiraled out of control in the meantime. We had to apply for I-131 expedite and fortunately had the documentation that was in support of USCIS criteria. Would a wedding reception comply with that criteria? I'm not so sure. Definitely talk with your lawyer. Good luck!
