Hello everyone,
I filed in Miami with our lawyer, from what I have its gonna take some time (long time actually)
Me and my wife are a little worried about my case for these reasons, I would love to hear your opinion:
We married at a court with 2 dear friends as witnesses, our families weren't present since they are not approving of this marriage because we are coming from different religions.
Personally I am a war veteran, from what I have done and seen I came to believe religion never should be a barrier between 2 people who love each other
We have been together since feb 18 and married dec 18. the proposal was very mutual, we were actually in bed talking about what our families think about our relationship (her mother hated me for being jewish and my parents actually liked her but thought this relationship is temporary). we were actually in bed and she told me "baby lets just get married and show them this is real". And that's what we did
once I got married I found out I couldn't keep my diplomatic job so I had to file for my green card. at the time the only proof we had for the our marriage is that we live together, we still didn't have any joint bank accounts because her student loan went to collections (she couldn't keep up with the payments since she had to help her mother in her medical bills). we were afraid that if we open a joint bank account all the funds will be withdrawn from there.
We are really worried. we are young (25 and 23), we truly married out of love and to show our families that this is real and **** religion. but we don't really have any actual proof on paper that this is real. I literally wish they could just come to our apartment and watch us, this is the best proof we can provide at this moment.
Do you think maybe my legal status would work in our favour? that I was here under a diplomatic visa and that I served in my country's army for 5 years as an officer?
