  • Filing for taxes but W-2 has old **** social security number

I just filed my I-485, and I read the requirements for N-400 (naturalization). They say they want 5 years' worth of tax returns. I've never filed taxes because I only recently received my real social security number. But if they need 5 years' worth of returns, I think I should file this year.

Only problem is that my W-2 reflects a **** social security number.
I can't change it now that it's issued, but I'll fix it with my employer for next year.
Either way, I don't want to have to change it with my employer for various reasons.

Does anyone have any experience filing taxes with a W-2 with **** social security number but using their real ITIN/social security number?

What advice would you have for my situation? Besides switching jobs.

    Thanks.

I don't think using a **** SSN is considered a CIMT (crime involving moral turpitude), at least in some appeals court circuits.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

it is if ssn belonged to a us citizen, it becomes claiming as a us citizen. it is i believe automatic not qualified for citizenship.

It is not a claim of US citizenship unless they actually selected US citizen on the form.

OP: do you know if you have ever claimed to be a US citizen on an I-9 form when you started work?

                      **** ?

Just curious if **** is being used instead of the word " **** ", why can't we say **** ? Is that word against the forum rules? Just for my own education. Thank you

I guess I got my answer! The site automatically changes the letters F-A-K-E to **** . Strange, I wonder why. Does anyone know?

And I can understand why! I'd feel bad for the person who actually is entitled to legally use the SSN this person has been using for years ugh it really really annoys me.
