Change of Job while EAD/AP under renewal

Hello,

I have applied for renewal of my EAD/AP on Jan 9, 2019. I have received Notice of Receipt within 3 weeks, however I have not received my new card for EAD/AP. (Current EAD/AP card expires on Mar 19, 2019).

I have also received RFE for Supplement J/Medical/evidence of immigration status, on Aug 23, 2018, which I think I cleared.

My question is - I have received job offer through from an exciting startup, is it safe to join this startup without having the EAD/AP in hand.

Also could some one help to find out what is the current processing time?

I have the same question...

My current employer's lawyer claimed this:
"A change in teams/organization, without a change in roles, will not affect the EAD renewal application."

But I need more opinions as he's best interest is for my employer not me. And he also didn't state "change in company"...

My lawyers said anywhere from 5 to 6 months. Hence my renewal started in Jan and my EAD/AP expires May 2019
