  • Had Green Card Interview Today. Have some questions.

    Hello,

My wife and I had her Green Card interview today at the Baltimore, MD office. The interview went well, all questions were answered truthfully and accurately from both of us. The IO went through the basic initial questions, then asked us about how we came to meet, get married, etc. and then finished with the yes/no i485 questions. He then grabbed a few documents/photos we brought as evidence and told us the case would be under review as he does not ever make decisions on the spot. He did not end with any negative or positive remarks.

I've since checked the case status and it does in fact state that "the interview has been completed and the case must be reviewed". My question is:

    - Does a longer than average review always mean something is wrong with the case? I've read on these forums that some people wait months and even years before getting any update. Is this cause for concern or is it simply because of processing backlogs?

I know I have a little while before I need to start worrying. Just trying to get ahead of the curve here. Thank you all in advance.

    Hello,

    Congratulations on your interview.

I'm on the same situation, My interview was Jan 28th in Florida, everything went fine and all and at the end I received a white paper with the first check box checked saying that at this time they don't need anything but the case is under review. ON the bottom is says to wait 120 days before inquiring.

However, when I check online it does not even say we did the interview, it still says interview was scheduled.

I have an infopass tomorrow, not sure if I can make it and my field office will start not taking infopass starting next week. I'm on a limbo,.

I also read online some people wait month and month before a response, its not common though to take that long but it does make us wonder!! this is such a nightmare, it never ends!!

Some officers can't/won't approve on the spot. Most reports say that they get the GC approved between 1-2 months. I don't think many cases go over the 120 days.

I had my interview at Baltimore field office back in Feb 2018. I had similar experience. I had my interview in the morning, officer gave me the same 120 day review letter. Fortunately for me my application was approve, and "new card in production" status appeared by 4 PM EST and I received by green card exactly a week from the interview date. But many Baltimore interview candidates based on their reviews in this forum and elsewhere had to wait anywhere from few days to several weeks after the interview. If you don't have any negatives in your application, you should be approved pretty soon. Good luck!
                12/12/2017: I-130 approved
                7/25/2018: I-485, I-765, I-131 received
                08/12/2018: Biometrics completed
08/23/2018: Ready to be scheduled for interview
                11/26/2018: EAD and AP approved
                12/4/2018: EAD in hand
01/2/2019: I-485 Interview Scheduled Notification Received
2/8/2019: Interview early in the morning @Field office for interview: Baltimore, MD.
At the end of Interview received generic notice that my cast must be reviewed.

2/8/2019: @4:00 PM received message "New Card Being Produced."

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean "got notice from case status" and then "my account USCIS"? Are these two separate things? I have only been using the case status page on the USCIS website. Thanks!
