My wife is US citizen and 3 years ago I applied I-485 (for the green card). My interview has been conducted, I am waiting for FBI name check. Meanwhile my EAD (work authorization card expired) and it has not been renewed on time. So I cannot go to my job anymore.
My company decided to file H1 visa for me because I could get back to work like that in 2 or 3 weeks. (I was previously on H1 from another employer and still have few years on H1 left). If they wait for my EAD, it could take several months.
Can applying for H1 reset my I-485 application which is pending? I do not want the H1 visa to cancel my green card pending process. If that is true, then I will ask my company not to do my H1 visa, but just wait till I can get my EAD renewed.
