  • What about WORK ?

I've been illegaly in the united states for 4 years now. Oviously there's 11 milion people working illegaly in this country, I have worked as well off the books.
Got married recently and have my interview scheduled on sep 7 2006. What shall I tell them when asked about work ? I claimed "not emplyed" in the sent forms , because I din't literally work at the time. My wife doesn't work either, she goes to school and depends/depended on her parents, my uncle is my joint sponsor.
I haven't received my work permit yet. There's a job waiting for me... should I just tell them that I had worked before ? What is the best answer here ? Will I be disqualified if I tell the I worked ? It' all absurd... I guess they realize you have to eat goddamit...... then want you to pay taxes when you don't have an ss#.....

If you have worked and they ask where were you working when you met and where youre working now, ( which is the only times the work question ususally comes up) please do not lie! The objective is not really to see whether you have broken any laws but rather to see if you really know each other and if your story of your lives match up. If you lie then your wife will also have to lie and if you get caught lying in the interview (remember you'll be under oath) then eevrything else you say about the marriage becomes a lie. Since she doesnt work then if you say you neevr worked there is going to be alot of questions about support.

Dont lie and create more scrutiny. They already know that its very probable that you worked. Marriage to a USC allows you, even when you have broken immigration laws, to still adjust status so theres no reason to fear that admitting that you worked will get you denied. You already iilegally overstayed so its neither here nor there if you worked also. The officer might give you a 3 second lecture about it but just shut up and appear contrite.
