Portability of I-485 while amendedI-140 pending

Hi

My I-140 was filed in the wrong category and got approved (Jan 2001) and my attorney has filed an amended I-140 application (EB3) and concurrently filed I-485 too.

Does the portability of I-485 apply (after 180 days) while the I-140 with the previous employer is still pending without approval? (New Employer's job description and salary matches the Labor certification)
