A little background...
Started the process a few years ago and I had my Labor certification and I applied for and received my I-140. Applied for I-485 for my wife and family and received notice of receipt in Dec, 2001 (Vermont SC).
In Feb of 2002 I was laid off from my job - I got another job straight away (the EAD arrived a week before I was laid of) and I informed my attorney. He said to get a letter from my old employer saying I was a great guy etc. and I was laid of through no fault of my own - I got this letter signed by the CEO. In June (I think) we received an RFE - usual stuff, letter from my present employer, pay statements, tax returns etc. They also said I had to have a new medical as the previous one was not signed (BS - it was the doctor who did it showed me his copy) and my wife and I had to have new fingerprints. I got a letter from my new employer and the other stuff and replied to the RFE in July. My wife gave her fingerprints in July and I did them in August (I had a cut on my finger and they wouldnt do it)
Questions:
1. How confident can I be that the 1-485 will be approved
2. How long do fingerpint checks take
3. How long should it take them to respond to the RFE (it says they will respond in 60 days - already late)
Thanks for all your help
Cheers
