Hi everyone,
I got married to my husband, who is an USC, july 2006. I had appoinement with a civil surgeon last month for my medical examination. They drew my blood, gave me first Haptitis B shot, and took my X-ray(which is clear). Everything is fine besides my TB skin test. So, till now, I still haven't gotten my I-693. And therefore I can't file for adjustment of status yet.
I had TB skin test in 99' when I came to study in the US. The result was positive, but the x-ray that i have had every year were all clear. The school I went to knows that I had BCG vaccinated when young, therefore I had positive reaction to TB skin test.
However, the civil surgeon is giving me a hard time now, saying I need to take preventative treatment OR they won't give me my I-693. I tried to explain to my civil surgeon and county health department, how BCG works in some countries and would make people have positive TB skin test reaction But they are still trying to force me to take the medicine.
I talked to my lawyer about it. She told me, if I want, I can cancel the medical examination I have done, and go to another surgeon, since the civil surgeon I see is basically an idiot.
My questions are:
1. Is it okay to cancel the medical examination and go to another civi surgeon?
2. If I cancel it, would they still try to make me take that stupid medicine?
3. Is it okay to go to see a civil surgeon in another state, ex, CA (i am in IL)?
4. Is there anyone that has a similar experience? What did you do? Please give me some suggestions. I really appreciate it!
