  • What questions were you asked at your green card interview?

What questions did the officer ask you at your green card interview? I am married to a citizen and going in for my green card interview on Oct 30th. What was the procedure and what questions were you asked? Also what documents/photos did the officer ask for to see at the interview?
    Thank you.

The interview could be ten minutes and it could be one hour or more. You could be asked no more than each other's full name and date of birth or you could be asked what you had for breakfast this morning and what color is the telephone in the bedroom. It depends on many factors : how you present yourselves, what documentation you have, the length of the marriage, whether you already have children together, the interviewing officer....a host of factors. My own interview was over an hour long and all I was asked was my husabnds full name and date of birth but he was asked a host of questions about me ( he was the petitioner) and my family. I also had to wait 10 months after the interview and had a request for further documentation before it was approved. Many people are approved at the interview so its hard to predict.

At the minimum, you should ahve documentary proof of your life together. You must bring th eorigianl and copy of your marriage license and Birth certificate nad proof of your spouses citizenship. Bring a copy of your lease or house deed which has both your names. Copies of joint back account statements and/or credit card statements. It's crucial that both your drivers licenses have the same address, utility bills in both your names ( not necessarily the same bill but anything that shows that both people live at the same address) and photos of your wedding and any before you got married. Proof that youre on your spouses life nad health insurance and vice versa. Just anyhting you wouldn't have unless you were married to this person. Documentation of your relationship before marriage is as important if not more, than that of the marriage itself. Bring as many photos as you have, even if the officer doesn't dont look at one. Bring them and put them on the table during the interview. Bring you rpassport . However, copy all that you wnat the officer to keep because they will not return any documents , even if its the original. Relax, sit close to each other and don't get caught in a lie and youll be fine. Good luck!

They may interview you guys in seprate room and will ask the same questions to you both and will match the answer later. Some officer are nice and polite and some are just too harsh. they can ask you what is the color of your bedsheet, how many windows you have in your house, what is your favourite sex position, address of apartment, each othets parents and siblings name. I wish you all the best and please let us know how it goes.

Personal questions were asked as well as verification of each ones personal information. The interview lasted less than 15mins. Documents brought during interview were photocopied and it was announced right there and then that I am approved for a green card and will receive it by mail within 2wks time
