    Hi,

When I attended my GC interview a couple weeks ago, the interviewer took my I-94 but I didn't receive a stamp.

I was wondering if taking my I-94 means that I will not get approved.

    Can someone please answer...

      GC interview

      Thanks for replying curiousone.

I am a little concern because some of the questions she ask my husband he honestly replied that he did not know.

We submitted everything we were ask to and at the end of the interview, We were told to wait 30-90 days for a reply.

I ask what is the next step and the interviewer said that their will be an investigation.

Do you know what they mean by investigation?

I am thinking that it is a background check but I thought that the check is done before the interview.
The officer was cold so she left no room to ask many questions.

We have been waiting about 45 days now.

I know that people within the forum will not have the perfect answer but I am asking anyone who can to shed some light especially if they had a similar experience.

Although I can't do anything, talking about it helps.

      Thanks

I understand your concern but its tough to predict and worrying will not help.......Were you separated at you rinterview? and if you were, at what point in the interview?......"investigation" is their standard line when there is no immediate decision............it could mean literally that or it could mean theyre just going to review your file and make a decision. Like with any organization, a denial would have to be reviewed by a supervisor..........so it could mean that theyre just reviewing the evidence you presented.

My honest advice is this: If it's a valid marraige, don't worry, it will be fine. If it's not, do what u have to do...... in case there is an investigation.
Even in strong, long marriages some couples don't know the answer to everything. ( my husband forgot my middle name!)

When there is an investigation into a suspected fraud marraige, they usually go the place of residence , speak with the apt manager ( if its an apt) or your neighbors and sometimes visit the interior and look around to see if both people really live there and they also visit the work place to see your employment files and who is listed as next of kin etc. It's not done often but it is done ....but if your marraige is a valid one, just relax and don't worry.
BTW, the name check/FBI check is initiated before the interview but it doenst mean its completed by the interview date....some people wait months for it to be completed.

Bear in mind though that even if there is no approval, they will send you what is called " Notice of Intent to Deny" It will list in detail the interview and where you had credibility issues and also what else they found in their investiagtion, if there was one. You would have 30 days in which to respond to that letter and overcome whatever is adverse. But Im sure it will not be necessary in your case..............just be positive and believe

          gc interview

Again thank you for your response curiousone.

We were not separated at the interview.

It was at the end of the interview and I ask the interviewer what is the next step and she said we will have to investigate and you should get a response within 30-90 days.

I am patiently waiting, like you said there is nothing we can do but wait and respond accordingly.

I have spoken to several lawyers and they have all said the longer the better, I am not sure what they mean by this and at this stage, I can't be bothered.

That you were not separarted is a good thing.......in all most all suspected fraud cases, the couples are separated after the interview has begun...the officer was probably just hostile............it will be approved

                I485 and EAD

Hi I interviewed at the Hartford office back in Feb. They didn't like my hospital birth certificate and wanted something from the civil authority. After a few back and forth, I sent the one they wanted end of June. Since then I have not received any status update. I call every month and all they do is take your info and give you a number. Is there anyone on this boat as well?

Also I filed for my EAD Aug 05. They never approved or denied it, after many phone calls, they finally approved on Aug 06. I got the card the following week and it said it was valid from 11/05 till 11/06. They messed it up and won't admit it and told me I had to file renewal. I already got fingerprinted (for the second time now). I just switched jobs and will now be 1 month out without a job. It's very frustrating, is there anything I can do? The renewal was filed 9/1 and it hasn't been 90 days yet.

As far as the EAD is concerned, theres nothing you cna do but on the OAS, instaead of calling, write them a letter, that usually triggers some respnse nad they wikll most likley writ eyou back.

Thanks for your response. Where do I write to? I am in the process to write to my congressman since a lot of people say that helps.
