  • FBI background check

hi.went for the interview about 3 weeks ago.everything went fine.the interview only lasted about 15 minutes.the lady looked at all the papers proving my husband and i live together, did not ask us almost any questions and approved my green card right away.the thing is, they already did my FBI background check, but got a result as "an ERROR".so the lady told me, they have to resent my papers and ask for another background check.she said, until the new FBI background check is done again and correctly, i cannot get my green card, which i understand.she told me it can only take a day, or a week, weeks or even months.i am just dreading now, that for some unexplainable reason it will take forever.i have read others experiences and it seems like everybody has been waiting for that FBI background check for months even years.
what do you think could have happened if my FBI check came back as "an ERROR".does it mean somebody just misspelled my name and put it wrongly in the computer or what is it.how can it come out as "an ERROR".

I understand your frustration.I was also told that my background check could take days or months at the most, now I have been waiting for years. I just learned that FBI uses 7 databases to do the background check.i.e our names go through 7 databases, and if the name gets caught in one perticular databases to someone FBI is looking for, what they do is invistigate that, it could take months. So imagine some one like me who has a typical muslim name...I guess my name is getting caught in all the 7 databases, and FBI is invistigating each lead and that could take upto several years. I think the best thing to do is hire a good lawyer, a good lawyer can bring about good information to you and also may be expediate your case.

I see that no one has responsed to my questions, but that's ok.
However, I did some research on the FBI name check and the link below will answer some of the questions that a lot of people might have regarding the name/background check.
