Hopefully someone can help me here,
I received an Interview Notice on or about May 7 this year with an interview date of May 16. Unfortunately, I had been scheduled for a business trip out of state from May 10 - May 16. Tickets had been purchased and were non-refundable. I was new at the job and did not want to cancel.
As per the directions at the bottom of the page, my wrote a letter for me and sent it indicating that I wanted to reschedule. The directions say:
"Please make every effort to keep this appointment. If you cannot, please return this letter immediately with your explanation and a request for a new appointment date..."
To this date, I have received no other communication from INS. Today, I looked closer at what was sent with the original notice and there was an attachment which says:
"Failure to attend the interview may result in the denial of your application and no request for rescheduling will be considered without proof of an emergency".
Can anyone tell me what I should expect or what I might do? My only thought is to go to the service center in person to try and straighten this out.
Thanks for any thoughts or advice,
Shane
