Hi Everyone,
I had my Marriage-Based interview today at the Tampa DO so I am sharing the experiece with everybody.
The interview was scheduled for 10:30am but we got there about 20 mins early. The security officer asked for my Interview Letter and told us where to be seated until my name was called. At 11am a male officer came out and called my name. The interview was very short and the officer was very nice. He swore us in and then asked for our ID's my passport, my EAD card and my 1-94. After giving these documents a look-see he gave the ID's back and began asking some questions.
He asked me my wife's age, DOB and where she was born. He then asked her the same questions about me. Next, he asked a few questions about my son in The Bahamas who is not my wife's child. After this, he asked for joint proof of our life together. I gave him joint car insurance, joint bank account info and our Tmobile family share plan info. He asked if we had a joint lease and we said no and he asked nothing further about it. He then asked if I was working and I told him that I had just gotten my EAD card about two weeks ago and was actively engaged in the job search!
Then came the routine questions like have you ever been arrested, belong to any group wanting to overthrow the US government etc. I replied no to all of course. He then asked for my wife's most recent W-2 (for 2006) which she just got in the mail on Saturday past, but which we didnt bring because we didnt know we need them!He then asked for her mom's most recent W-2 for 2006 as well. We also didnt have that because we didnt know it was needed!
He said if the interview had taken place prior to the end of 2006 it would have been fine but since the tax year has ended or something to that effect he needed the most recent W-2's.Well, after that he said that everything else was fine with my file and told us to get the W-2's to him ASAP so that I can get my approval letter and green card in the mail. He also told us about removing the conditions of marriage within the 90 day period prior to the expiration of the conditional green card in two years. He also told me that he would be holding on to my I-94 because I wont be needing it anymore.
He didnt ask for wedding photos and pictures of us which we had lots of. He didnt ask for letters from friends or relatives which we had as well or any other evidence. Nothing, nothing, nothing!!!LOL.All in all however, it was a smooth, pain-free experience that went well. So now I am just job hunting and waiting for my green card so I can go and visit my family in The Bahamas!I wish everyone else the best with their upcoming interviews!!!
