I am on H4, as my husband is on H1. I found an employer who agreed to apply for my Green card. I have applied for I-140 and have received the receipt from INS. I found in this website that I can apply for I-485 now, without waiting I-140 approval. But my lawyer says it's possible for candidates who already have work permit, Say on H1 or so. Since I have only H4, I can not apply for I-485 now. Is this true?
