AOS and Consular Processing

Hello,

Is it true that until my priority date is current, I cannot process
I-485 Adjustment of Status or Consular Processing?.

Can I request for Consular Processing to avoid any delay?.

Specifics:
Categary: EB2
Priority Date: 12/12/2005
Current Status: I-140 Approved (waiting for my priority date become current to submit my I-485)
