Processing date has passed, BUT my I-485 is still pending...

My receipt date for I-485 is June 2006. Actually my priority date is current and even the Processing date for Nebraska service center has moved to July 2006 from May 2006 few days ago. BUT, the status or the Last updated date in my Portfolio hasn't changed yet. It still says the same message stating that 'we have received your application on June 2006 and is pending'. Anyone in the similar scenario as mine? Any insights on when I will be able to get this I-485 cleared?

guys, have you thought about taking an infopass apptment at the local service center and inquiring about your cases ? Sometimes, that helps know where you are stuck.

How can we take infopass for our local office? Do we have to go in person or we can just call them? USCIS's customer care people said that they dont have phone number for local office, I had my finger print in New Orleans so I beleive that should be my local office, Can anyone help??

Hey, even i am in the same boat as you are. Well, I applied my I-485 in Jul 06, done with interview in Sep 06 and the officer said that I would hear of the decision in 3-4 months after my background check is complete. But curently my case is outside processing time and I contacted the Customer Care and had an appointment via Infopass last week....but all they could tell me was that it was still in background check pending with FBI and that I had to contact them next only if I dont hear anything from them in the next 6 months !! That means that I have to simply wait till Sep 07

Hey I applied in March 06, I guess that I have been waiting longer than anyone else. it is the same background check hurting all of us. like I mentioned in my previous posting, I am baffled as to why it takes them such a long time to do those checks ? with the passage of time their system should become more efficient but it seems like they are taking longer and longer. or... maybe this is a deliberate way of creating a backlog.............
they already have done background checks on me in 2003 when I applied for H-1b(it took them 7 months back then, now it's been 10 months already and counting....)

and on top of everything when I called FBI they said my case was processed and sent back to USCIS on May 06 ! of course they don't say what was the decision on that. but still why such a long wait then ?

the numbers to call FBI for finger prints status check are 304-625-5590 and 304-635-2406. THEY DO NOT TELL YOU WHAT DECISION WAS MADE ON YOUR CASE, THEY JUST TELL YOU WHEN IT WAS PROCESSED AND SENT BACK TO USCIS. they are usually ok, much more polite then USCIS people though. make sure your A number is ready. good luck to all the members of club " Blind wait"

Thanks for the FBI contact numbers. I tried calling them but all that they said was that their Washington office processes these background checks and that they currently have a backlog...and that they wudnt be able to check on the status or give any updates on the timeline So i hit a deadend out there too !! So now its been 9 months since I applied my I-485 and 7 months since it is with the FBI for background check. I even took an Infopass appointment with USCIS and all that they said was that it was pending with FBI for background check and that they cudnt give a timeline by when it would be back from the FBI. They just asked me to contact them again only after 6 months This blind waiting sure is frustrating.
