  • Diversity Visa Lottery

    Dear all,
I have won the DV-2003. While in NY in decided to adjust my status, finger prints were done in December 2002 and I was interviewed by an INS officer on 15 January 2003, in NYC. As I understood from the officer that I will receive my GC by mail.
As I also know that DV cases should be completed before 1 October 2003.

Can anybody tell me "How long should I wait?"

    Thanks to all

    Less time than others!

All I can say is you are lucky and you will wait a lot less longer than all the folks who have applied for GCs through employment or familial relationships. You are very fortunate.

      Thank you

Thank you for the message and wishes. I am still waiting for an answer. It seems that this subject is new and was never discussed at this level.

      Cheers, SMC

        Also a winner

I also won the Diversity Visa Lottery for 2004.
My Labor Certification took 3.5 years. I-140 and I-485 has a received date of 02/27/03. I also did my fingerprinting 2 weeks ago.

From what I see on the forms for the Diversity Visa Lottery is that there are 2 ways of filing. If I adjust status in the USA it is sent to my local INS office. If I want to do consular processing it is then sent to the KY Service Center and from there is will be sent to the consular. I'm originally from South Africa.

The form asks for my SSN and Alien number.

I'm sure they will see how far I'm in the current process. I just don't know how that will effect the application.

        Will one application be canceled?

        Will they be linked?

Does anyone know what the timeframes are if I sent it to my local INS in ORLANDO, FL or do consular processing in South Africa?

I don't know which route I should take on this?

        Thanks in advance

          Winner? I don't know.

It was a gift from the heaven when I received a notice about winning DV2004. But when I knew that only half amount of winners will receive the immigration visa, I started to feel worried.

They just can’t make it easier on us, can they?

          Anyway, my question is…

Every month they release a cut-off number for immigrant visa number in this DV category. What does this number mean to me? I know I have a case number that looks like the cut-off number. Should I refer the case number to the cut-off number? (Say, if my case # is above the cut-off #, and I am safe?)

          Do you have some advice?
