I don't think I have a birth certificate and to get one/or to see if I have one even would mean somehow trying to contact a service in India. I do have a baptism certificate, but from what I've read on this site, to have this accepted by USCIS I need to also provide a non-availability certificate (which offers the same hurdles as getting a BC) and affidavits from my parents.
Has anyone of Indian origin successfuly submitted only a baptism certificate and affidavits from parents to USCIS and not a non-availability certificate? What birth certificate issues have others run into?
Is a birth certificate from the Indian Embassy in DC acceptable?
Any advice, even on how I can try and get a birth certificate or the non-availability certificate from India (Bombay, Maharashtra to be specific) would be helpful.
