So here is my story. I have been in the US for 17 years. Came here to finish high school and college and I have remained here since primarily due to the instability in my country. Arrived on an F-1 visa that has long since expired after completing my Bachelors. I have a SSN, DL and am able to live and work here cause I have the documents required for the I-9. I filed the I-485A because I was not sure if it was required and wanted to error on the side of caution. I also sent in my medical I-693 from the physician so as not to slow down the process. So far I am pleased with the process to this point. It has been going faster than I anticipated. My wife and I are scheduled for the interview next week and have pictures and documents to support or marrige to this point. We've been married for 5 months now and been together for over 2 years. We have a son and I have a daughter from a previous relationship( both USC) so we hope we have a good case.
Anyway I just though to sare my experience to this point with you all since I do read these posts a lot and have taken heed to many of your advice.

    Thanks and wish us luck...

To all.. Thanks for all the suggestions and comments that have been posted on this site. It was all helpful.

            I was Approved 3/15/07

The interview was rather quick. We got to the Center 30 minutes early and were done befor my scheduled appointment. Not many questions were asked of us and my passport was stamped and told to expect the GC in the mail in three weeks. So to all of you out there in the process good luck and all the best to you
