Question about TB test and form I-693

My spouse had a negative TB skin test. Therefore no chest X-ray is needed. The physician then did not mark anything in the chest X-ray section of form I-693. However my attorney believes that NOT DONE must be marked in the chest X-ray section, or we would risk getting REFs later on.

Both sides firmly believe they are right. I do not know what to do. Please share your experience. Thanks.

You should revisit the doctor and have them write a letter explaining why XRAY was not done.

A letter must be accompanied with the application and make sure you have a copy of it as well for your interview.

Your attorney is right. you may get a RFE later asking redooing the medical..

i blieve my report says "n/a" or Negative no x-ray" something like that..

If the TB test is negative you do not need a chest X-ray so your form is fine as long as the doctor clearly states that the test was negative. A chest Xray is only required as a follow-up to a positive TB reaction.

I had a skin reaction to the skin test for 2mm and for chest xray the doctor wrote not done as he said a 2mm reaction does not require a chest xray. Is this ok does anyone has any similar experience.

In the chest X-ray section, there are three boxes, normal, not normal and not done. Did your physician check NOT DONE? Do you think the physician should have checked NOT DONE along with a letter? Or a letter, as you said below, alone will be fine? Thanks.

i cannot recall right now and it's not w/me right now. I think mine said "not done" I am not sure.

A letter from a doctor explaining why x-ray was 'not done' should be good as a documentation for USCIS. when they call you for an interview and ask, have a copy of the letter w/you (if you get a copy from the doctor).

yea, your lawyer is right..if your skin test was negative, then the negative box needs to be ticked, then for the chest xray part, the not done box has to be ticked..that's how mine is..

May I ask you how far along are you with I-485? If your physician checked NOT DONE box in the chest X-ray section, did he also sign at the bottom of that section? Based on yours and sa2006's experience, it seems that this NOT DONE box is equivalent to NOT APPLICABLE in USCIS' eyes. How comfusing! Thanks again.

My interview was on 19th March and I was told that my background is not completed so I will need to wait for any approval (GC). it may take upto 1 year depending on my file check.

the doctor signed the copy of i-693 and sealed it as well. I got 1 copy from her as well.

I think NOT DONE will explain why it was not done, but again, you can certainly have the doctor write you a letter explaining it. USCIS may not even ask you about the letter but it is always GOOD to have every possible document available......

good luck... I do suggest you to submit every document at once (if you can) and avoid for any RFEs to delay your processing...
