different processing dates

hello to all.

i was reading the different threads and found out that while some had their AOS approval in 3 mons others have the misfortune of a lengthy 8 mons timeline.

would anyone have an idea why others take a lot longer? will it be the fbi check? and if so, is it because we raise a security flag? that they need to do a thorough background check on us.

or maybe because of overstaying? like when you stay in the US beyond the expiration date of a visa like tourist or student or h1b.

FbBI check, religion

it depends on what your name, religion and country of origin is. if you are ahmed from Pakistan or Iran then may God be with you, prepare to wait for eternity. but if you are a smith or andrew from Scottland then welcome to the express lane !

well, good point H1blues...
my friend from NY lived in Dubai, UAE for most of his life and then came here. i came here at 17 yrs age. my interview was last month and now im in the waiting line for FBI check. he has been waiting in line since 2005.....

i guess it depends on your record and what region you are from.
