HI,
I came to the US in january 2000 on a tourist visa waiver (I have a dual citizenship: french and tunisian).I met my future wife a couple of months after coming here and moved out together and year later. Meanwhile I started working illegally and I filed my taxes for both 2001 and 2002 .After the tragic events of 9/11, the INS asked tunisian citizens to register in a ins office (otherwise they may lose the right for a hearing or a trial), but since I entered the country using my french passport, i thought that this law didn't apply for me (I was also afraid to be deported). My wife and I got married two months ago and my lawer told me to go register asap(even if the dealine's registration expired) BEFORE he even files for an adjustment of status.I need a second opinion . Thanx in advance
